We are delighted to have been awarded not only Higher Distinction but the Continuous High Achiever Award at this year's Occupational Safety Awards! Like previous years, this achievement is a testament to the hard work of our Training Officer, Greg O'Keeffe who this year had the help and support of our H&S Manager, Kevin O'Brien. We would like to thank Greg for his dedication to the NISO awards over the past 20 years and no doubt, he has left it in safe hands with Kevin, who will ensure that Health and Safety will always be at the forefront of Cagney Contract Cleaning!

A great night was had at The Irish Contract Cleaning Awards and fantastic to pick up multiple awards on the night.
We didn’t only win the prestigious Best Site in the Hospitality/Leisure/Residential Building category with The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) but our Site Supervisor, Robert Sobiczewski, and our Site Operative, Marek Martowicz also picked up the top awards of the night in their respective categories.

And it didn’t stop there… We’ve also been awarded the Highly Commended award in the Manufacturing category for Helsinn Birex.

All of these awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the operational and onsite teams and indeed, they are very close to our hearts. We had been providing general, industrial, and GMP cleaning in Helsinn Birex for the last 27 years. There has never been another cleaning company in The CCD, as Cagney Contract Cleaning has provided the cleaning services there since the building first opened in September 2010.

We would like to congratulate The Irish Contract Cleaning Association for the successful night and extend our thank you to the sponsors of our awards, Clenli Direct and Western Hygiene.

But most of all, we would like to congratulate our teams in The CCD and Helsinn Birex. It is great to see their hard work being recognised by the industry.

Career advancement opportunities are becoming increasingly important to employees in today’s market. In fact, the lack of career growth is one of the top reasons people report leaving their jobs.
Cagney Contract Cleaning has an amazing pool of talented people, and we encourage and support them to progress and develop their careers through training, education, and opportunities.

Internal promotion is not just beneficial to our employees and hugely valuable for our company, but retaining talent and ensuring their professional and personal development is also extremely rewarding. Helping people reach their potential is always at the forefront of Cagney’s values.

We are proud that almost 60% of our current operational management, senior management, and back-office staff were promoted internally, some of them developing their career to a senior management level.

Having this internal and extensive industry knowledge has given Cagney Contract Cleaning a major advantage in staff retention and keeps contributing to our continued success in exceeding our client’s expectations.

Diversity and inclusion are a vital part of Cagney Contract Cleaning’s workplace culture; not only are they important for the well-being of our employees, but making diversity a priority, offers a variety of ideas, perspectives, and learning opportunities.

Bringing together different talents, experiences, and skill sets can help employees develop creative and inventive solutions. Additionally, inclusiveness increases employee satisfaction and productivity. We all like to feel needed and valued for our contributions.

Cagney Contract Cleaning is an inclusive company and welcomes people from all ethnicities regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, language, education, etc. We are committed to creating a more accepting culture that has a strong positive effect on individuals and connects everyone in our company.

NISO Awards 2020
A well overdue appreciation to our Health & Safety and Operational Teams.

From 2005 we have received the NISO Award from the National Irish Safety Organisation every year.

Despite all the challenges and uncertainties COVID-19 brought to the industry in 2020, we have achieved the NISO Higher Distinction award.

This award recognizes the hard work of our Health & Safety and Training department, especially Greg O’Keeffe, our Training Manager who put in an incredible amount of work throughout the year.

We could not have received this award without the continuous support of our Operational Team who are imperative in implementing the procedures on our sites and make sure safety comes first in everything we do.

Well done everyone!

Thank Your Cleaner Day 2020

‘Thank Your Cleaner Day’ is a day to recognise the good work and efforts of all Cleaners over the world and this year it was held on 21st October 2020.

This year especially, our staff worked tirelessly and continued to deliver right trough these unusual times despite the huge challenge of COVID-19.

We at Cagney Contract Cleaning are extremely proud of the hard work displayed on a daily basis by all our colleagues. As a Thank You, we ran a raffle where all of our employees have been entered into a draw. 20 lucky winners were selected to win some of the fabulous prizes along with €50 One4all vouchers.

Some of the lucky winners…

This year we have a special gift for our clients!

Cagney Contract Cleaning decided to make a significant donation to charity in lieu of Christmas gifts.
The charity we have chosen is one which is close to our hearts, The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is a nationwide charity that offers support, advocacy and an in-home nursing service to help children and their families under the age of five years who have a significant neurodevelopmental delay involving severe learning difficulties. This may include infants whose developmental future is uncertain. Support is also offered to all families whose child is approaching end of life within our age limit regardless of their diagnosis.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides help to thousands of families at Christmas, which includes gift vouchers, toys for small children, gifts for young people as well as gifts for adults. Even in an improving economy, it can still take just one thing to tip a family into crisis and poverty.
Our staff came together, becoming Secret Santas and Christmas Elves to support SVP’s Annual Giving Tree and Food Appeal initiatives. We are delighted to assist SVP in providing a little help for families in need.

Greg O'Keeffe was delighted to receive a Distinction award on behalf of Cagney Contract Cleaning at the 2019 NISO awards in Galway. This award also recognizes our Operational Team whose support is imperative to implement the procedures on our sites and make sure safety comes first in everything we do. Well done everyone!

Both Companies have similar business philosophies - client focused, delivering high quality cleaning services delivered by professional staff, supporting our cleaning professionals with good supervision & management. The similarity in our philosophies makes this merger a perfect fit for both Companies, our clients and our employees.
This is an exciting time in our Company's evolution, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued hard work and professionalism.

The Year 2017 marks 40 years in business. Here is a little piece from Patrick Cagney about the beginnings of our Company and how we have gone from strength to strength over the last 40 years.

The 3rd October 1977 is the day I decided to start Cagney Contract Cleaning, so this year we are celebrating 40 years in business. I was studying accountancy  and thought it was time to try something else. Together with my brother Ailin (of the Ailin Cagney Prize) we started a partnership. I worked at it full time and Ailin helped when he could but continued his job outside the company. We focussed on carpet cleaning in pubs and hotels and did quite well but it was very hard physical work mainly through the night. As a student Garvan helped me and when he left school in 1979 , we agreed Ailin would leave the company and Garvan and I would become partners on an equal basis. In the early days we used a network of friends and family to work with us on a part time basis to help get us established. Martin Maguire and Tony Nugent worked with us even back in those days. Our father was a huge help in getting us going, loaning us his car, guaranteeing loans and even physically working , even though he was retired. Linda joined us in 1990 and with the help of all the hundreds of people who worked with and for us, we have got to where we are today. The company and our reputation is made up of all those  thousands of employees over the last 40 years who contributed and helped us in delivering a service we can all be proud of.

We were helped along the way by all those clients , especially in the early days, who took a chance on us. The main lesson we have learnt in the last 40 years is that if you treat people fairly and with respect they will treat you in the same way. We have met so many people along the way, each with their own special contribution, and we want to thank everyone.

The company is still growing and lots of new people have joined us on the journey, bringing new ideas and sustained energy. Our sincerest thanks to everyone .

Patrick Cagney
